My favourite piece at New Designers.

Just another quick blog on my favorite piece from new designers the other week, this fish tank was the work of Richard Bell, product designer his work can be seen at http://www.richardbelldesign.com/ this was really cool and I had to have and go a look at it a fair few times!, I'm in the process of setting up my own little fish tank on my desk at the moment, its nowhere near as impressive as this design, ill be posting up some pics of the new inhabitants when I get them on Tuesday.

Its the weekend!

Well its been a busy week this week, eye tests, sorting out the flat and moving all my stuff back home, looking forward to Micheal's birthday in Manchester on Saturday night, Micheal's a friend of a friend and its his 21st birthday party on Saturday night, so im off there after a grueling shift in my wonderful part time job :s hopefully not for long! did this piece as that's what ill be doing on Saturday night!

New self promotion video

just a little something, not done any flash in a while so thought id spend an afternoon playing on it.

Motto of the week

Good morning bloggers! created this today as its my motto of the week, with the current economic climate design company's just don't seem to be taking on at the moment, which is very disheartening as a recent graduate as ive sent my work out to so many companies, Therefore I have created this piece which is reminiscent of the iconic "keep calm and carry on poster" but applied the concept to my own situation, "Keep applying and carry on!" and that's what ill do.

Fluidium

Been sat at my Mac today and had my Fluidium on, Ive always had an obsession with the design of Mathmos Lava lamps, I have an Astro and a Fluidium, this strange space age shape was designed by Mr Ross Lovegrove of Mathmos London, I got mine off Ebay for a bargain price of £10 about a year ago, which was a bargain as there £50 on the website.

A little about me...

New self promotional piece to show potential employers where to go to see my work (my website) and how to find out about what im interested in design wise (here!) this will hopefully be going up on my website and in an all new PDF soon!, looking forward to meeting up with my old boss from work placement next week and seeing the team!

Glorious soup!

Whilst still working in my part time job, Thanks to doing a graphics degree I cant help but notice any nice pieces of packaging which come through my checkout, I noticed this packaging for Glorious soup a while ago and more recently they've produced this alphabet series which looks great!

New designers 2010, Buisness design centre, Islington, London.

Just got back on Friday from the 2010 new designers exhibition, where fresh graduates from institutions around the country get to showcase their work, and ultimately gain internships/employment. I have come back feeling really inspired by the wide range of product/interior/graphic/crafted design which was on show, it was great to see how other student interpreted competition briefs which I did, for me, the gigantic pop up book, bent fish bowl and wrap-around lamppost bike stole the show for me.

Cadburys flake advert.

I had to to a blog post on this because I keep seeing it on television and love it, its a new take on advertising chocolate, my dissertation focused on shifting perceptions from brand product to brand ethics, this is a perfect example of this as they are focusing on the female market to which the flake chocolate bar is aimed at by presenting the product in a high fashion shoot style way which is similar to a shoot Kate moss was in, this means an instant connection can be made by the consumer. It is a very clever way of marketing a product which we are now seeing more and more in advertising.
